MAWICA works with community conservancies and communities across Northern Kenya to protect natural and cultural heritage, strengthen local capacity and advance resilient and equitable livelihoods.

WHO WE ARE
Community-led conservation for a resilient Northern Kenya
Established in 2022, MAWICA is a non-profit umbrella regional organisation representing community conservancies, pastoralist communities, fisherfolk and other minority communities across Northern Kenya, particularly Marsabit County.
We believe that local communities are the most effective custodians of their landscapes. Our work brings together indigenous knowledge, conservation science and sustainable development practice to build a future where people and nature thrive together.
